Or there's Lakeside, 25 minutes to the north along Flathead Lake, for "local" grocery shopping, banking, places to eat and drink, not to mention the most fun, family friendly and comparatively inexpensive Blacktail Mountain Ski Area. Kalispell, at the top of Flathead Lake, is about 40 minutes away, and is home to all the big box stores like Costco and Walmart, and is the location of Glacier Park International Airport. Whitefish, just 15 minutes north of Kalispell, with its more upscale restaurants and shopping, is home to Whitefish Mountain Resort (formerly Big Mountain), a ski resort with summer activities too like nature walks, mountain biking, etc.
